A few days ago, two people in one day recommended that I watch Netflix’s new series, “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.” They said it was my kind of show. For some context to anyone who doesn’t know me, I’m obsessed with organizing. I love when everything has its place. My friends and family can attest to the fact that I’m extremely specific when it comes to clothing hangers, acrylic products, how I fold my t-shirts, and so much more. I know it sounds crazy, lol.
As I started to watch the first episode of, “Tidying Up,” one of Marie Kondo’s closet organization strategies caught my attention. Every piece of clothing the client owned was put in a pile and sorted through one by one. The client had to ask themselves, “Does this piece bring me joy?”
I had so many clothes just sitting in my closet. Things that I hadn’t worn since before I started college (2 years ago), and things I hadn’t gotten rid of because I was worried about feeling guilty. But, what’s the point of holding onto something that you’re never going to wear again?
Once I felt inspired I was determined to get rid of the clothing that no longer brought happiness to my life.
Just like Marie Kondo, I placed everything in a pile. I looked at each item and bagged up the pieces that didn’t bring me joy and could be donated.
The clothes and accessories I absolutely love were transferred to my garment rack.
Finally, everything was ready to be donated to my local Plato’s Closet. I’m so happy to have a tidier closet, and hope that whoever owns these pieces next can enjoy them as much as I did at one point and more!
Thanks for reading!
Until next time,
Lindi
